Bulgarian youth at the 74th UN session
Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the UN with 2019-2020 Mandate - Bogomila Kormanova and Minko Daskalov, will participate in the 74th session of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, announced Ralitsa Dikanska, Coordinator of the Program "Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the UN". From the first to the 14th of October, for the thirteenth consecutive year, the delegates will express the opinion of the Bulgarian youth at the highest international level.
As part of their working visit, our youth delegates will make a formal statement to the Third Committee. In their speech, they will highlight the priority areas for their mandate - quality education and employment, which Bulgaria's young people identified through a survey based on the UN Youth Action Program. Over 1,200 young Bulgarians became involved and expressed their views on a number of issues, many of them also proposing concrete actions to address the challenges.
Bogomila Kormanova and Minko Daskalov will be organizing a follow-up event on the topic: 'Decent Work with Meaning', together with their fellow youth delegates from the Republic of Ireland. The event will focus on the work of the Future and what skills young people need to possess - not only to contribute to a greener economy, but also to uphold their rights and dignity, as well as to strike a balance between work and their lives beyond it.
The youth delegates will also join the negotiations on a new Youth Resolution, which is adopted every two years by the UN General Assembly, thus upholding the rights and interests of Bulgarian youth at the highest level.
The participation of the youth delegates in the session of the Third Committee of the General Assembly is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the UN Program is one of the most successful such programs worldwide. In Bulgaria, it is coordinated by the United Nations Society in Bulgaria and implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and partners from the non-governmental sector.
