EU-pilot project between Bulgaria and Romania
The Maritime Administration Executive Agency of Bulgaria is a leading partner in a joint project with the Romanian Maritime Administration, which was presented today in Vidin.
The main objective of the project "Development of a common database and legal framework for ship inspections carried out in the joint Danube River Danube Region through an Interface to the National River Information System" (DANRiSS) is to increase the level of coordination between the two public institutions. The development of specific shipping rules on the Danube will avoid duplicate inspections of the right shipowners and the rest will be obliged to abide by them.
The project was presented by the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" - Bulgaria and RNA - Romania and the respective directors Peter Kirov and Ion Zeicu.
Bulgaria is the first country of Danube, which is built administrative and operational center for monitoring ship traffic. From September 2015Bulgaria has a working river information center with 23 nodes located along the river. The center is equivalent to the months before this traffic towers in Varna and Burgas.
The construction of a modern river information system in the Bulgarian section of the Danube as part of the European system to ensure effective and safe navigation on inland waterways in the Community "River Information Services" (RIS). In the month of December 2014 in Rousse opened center from which to manage it, which is one of the important steps to improve the conditions for navigation on the Danube.
In 2002 the countries situated along the Rhine and the Danube signed an agreement to create a pan-European River Information Services (COMPRIS), which monitors traffic on the waterway, monitor the maintenance of navigable pat, security of ships and protection of the environment. The information can be used in real time by crews.
After the completion of the project, the Danube Commission is expected to include other Danube countries.
