A man-amphibian swam through the Danube
More than 150 swimmers from Bulgaria, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic joined in the swim the Danube River in the town of Svishtov, informed from the press center of the local municipality . The attraction was the Human Amphibian, who swam the river into a sack with his arms and legs tied.
For the sixteenth consecutive year, the Danube flooded a significant number of participants from many Bulgarian cities - Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Pleven, Rousse, Varna, Blagoevgrad, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Pavlikeni, Sandanski, Popovo, Troyan, Harmanli, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Ravda and other. A special participant in the anniversary swim of the Danube was Jane Petkov from Sandanski, known as the Man-Amphibian. He said he was preparing for a world record, and his unique achievements owed to proper breathing, proper nutrition, and the power of thought through which everything could be achieved.
The flood of the Danube was opened by the President of the City Council - Dr. Christian Kirilov who wished success to all the participants and proudly stressed that for 60 years Svishtov Municipality has maintained this tradition, underlining the importance of the great European river for Bulgaria .
Overtaking has no competitive character, and traditionally all participants have been awarded certificates. Awards were provided by the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross - Veliko Tarnovo and the Municipality of Svishtov. Distinctive awards handed over and SA "D. A. Tsenov "- Svishtov.
The award for the oldest participant received Mihail Kachaunov from Veliko Tarnovo, who participated in the swim for the 54th time; The prize for leader of the largest group was awarded to Velko Kazandzhiev from the town of Elena, which has over 50 river crossings.
The smallest participants this year were Nadezhda Ivanova from Sandanski and Boriana Ivaylova from Pavlikeni, who were not afraid of the strong flow of the second longest river in Europe and swam the whole distance without any problems;
This year the prize for the largest family, swam in the Danube, went to the family of Rousse, who were in a 4-member team.
