25 years since the establishment of the Association of the Wallachians in Bulgaria and XVIIIth International Folk Festival of the Romanian (Vlach) Song and Dance
A quarter of a century since the establishment of the Association of the Vlachs in Bulgaria (AVB) celebrated its members and guests in the presence of the Ambassador of Romania in Bulgaria and the Minister of the Romanians Abroad, AndreeaPăstîrnac .
The solemn part was opened by Plamka Lyubomirova, chairman of AVB, who made a brief retrospection on the way out, especially thanks to the honorary chairman of the organization and one of its founders - Ivan Alexandrov. AVB has begun its hard work, long persuading people of the importance of preserving their traditions to reach today's 18th edition of the International Folk Festival of Romanian (Vlach) Song and Dance. Lubomirova also thanked the publishers of newspaper Timpul , stating the work of his editor, Milan Angelov. The Association has a major merit for the construction in the village of Inovo, Vidin Municipality, the Monument of the Romanian Warriors killed for the liberation of Vidin from Turkish slavery. To date, leadership and members have enjoyed continuity in the tradition of preserving local traditions - both by mayors and community centers. In connection with the anniversary, ABB's activists were honored with a diploma and a plaque.
MinisterPăstîrnac announced that two new laws are to be adopted for Romanians abroad, which will also include funding from the European funds.
The Romanian ambassador expressed his satisfaction that he was in Vidin for the second time and greeted the attendees with the words "music, dances and traditions are the soul of a people".
Special guests at the opening of the Festival were the children of the Folklore group from Turnu Severin, headed by Cita Novac, who gave true pleasure to the audience with their vocal and instrumental performances, which have been awarded many times at national and international festivals and competitions.
This year's XVIIIth International Folk Festival of the Romanian (Vlach) Song and Dance is held in the village of Kapitanovtsi, Vidin Municipality with dance and vocal groups from Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.
