They have left the railway traffic on the Žeželj Bridge in Novi Sad, Serbia
The Danube Bridge, opened for movement on October 23, 1961, was destroyed by NATO bombing on April 26, 1999. After 19 years it was rebuilt. It connects the cities of Novi Sad and Petrovaradin. Automobile traffic on the bridge will be launched in early July, after completing the construction of the adjacent infrastructure, said Zorana Mihajlovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in Serbia. She reminded that this bridge is important not only for Novi Sad, but for all of Serbia as it is located on the railway corridor No 10 and is part of the future fast-track Belgrade-Budapest.
Žeželj Bridge is the last one rebuilt after the bombing of the former Yugoslavia. Out of a total of € 50 million, € 40 million for construction was given free of charge by the EU.
The railway bridge, besides rail and road, has bicycle and pedestrian paths.
In Novi Sad above the Danube there are three bridges -Liberty Bridge, Varadinov Bridge and Žeželj Bridge –http://danubebridge2.com/index.php/serbia/novi-sad
