Choose Your Future - Elections to the European Parliament May 26, 2019
It is important to choose our future on May 26th. It is important to vote because we MUST take responsibility for our future and that of our children! Because every newborn child has at least one reason to achieve an even better future - www.youtube.com/embed/R3tErFvAgag
The more people vote, the stronger and more legitimate a democracy becomes. The goal is to make Europeans aware of shared values, emotions and responsibilities. To deal with global challenges, Europeans need to stand together and choose their - and their children’s and grand-children’s - future, by casting their vote in the upcoming elections.
In the words of the young girl narrating the film: “Each of us can leave a mark, but together we can make a real difference. Choose the Europe you want me to grow up in”.
What is the idea behind the film?
Bringing a child into the world changes parents' perspectives on life like nothing else. The birth of a child is an emotional moment, which is complemented by a great sense of responsibility for the future well-being of the new life.
The film documents the deeply emotional beauty of new Europeans coming into this world, right now, right before the elections. It shows the actual birth of children who will inherit the decisions made in May 2019. It shows all the hope and joy that meets them, and it shows that, from the second we come into this world, we’re in it together and need to take care of it, collectively and individually, by voting.
In other words: “United in diversity”, the motto of the European Union.
Who had the idea for the film?
The “Choose Your Future” campaign was the European Parliament’s idea and was used to brief the creative agency & Co. / NoA who developed the concept for the film. The director of the film is Frédéric Planchon.Born in Lyon and living in Paris, Frédéric began his career as a theatre actor, and worked as an assistant director on 15 feature films before making his directorial debut in 1990 with the short film 'L'Echange', which won the Prix de l’Image at the Festival de L’Image du Film. This launched his career as a music video and commercials director.
The Metropolitan of Vidin served in Mount Athos on St. George's Day
According to a decision of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Vidin, Daniil, will head the Holy Mass in the monastery of St. George Zograf in Sveta Gora, Mount Athos.
Mount Athos is a mountain and peninsula in northeastern Greece and an important centre of Eastern Orthodox monasticism. It is governed as an autonomous polity within the Greek Republic. Mount Athos is home to 20 monasteries under the direct jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.
The number of daily visitors to Mount Athos is restricted, and all are required to obtain a special entrance permit valid for a limited period. Only men are permitted to visit the territory, which is called the "Garden of Virgin Mary" by the monks, with Orthodox Christians taking precedence in permit issuance procedures. Residents on the peninsula must be men aged 18 and over who are members of the Eastern Orthodox Church and also either monks or workers.
The Saint George the Zograf Monastery or Zograf Monastery is one of the twenty Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Mount Athos (the "Holy Mountain") in Greece. It was founded in the late 9th or early 10th century by three Bulgarians from Ohrid and is regarded as the historical Bulgarian monastery on Mount Athos, and is traditionally inhabited by Bulgarian Orthodox monks.
The monastery is named after the 13th or 14th century icon of Saint George, known as Saint George the Zograf . The name of the latter comes from the belief that the icon mysteriously painted itself on the prepared board (zograf(os) in Greek means "painter" (from zoe="life" and graphos="scribe").
The earliest written evidence of the monastery's existence dates from 980. During the Middle Ages, the monastery was generously supported by the Bulgarian rulers, such as Ivan Asen II and Ivan Alexander, since it was a matter of pride for the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to maintain a monastery on Athos.
Easter also called Pascha is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. The resurrection of Christ is marked by the Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant churches (on different dates).
Today, the Metropolitan of Vidin, Daniil and priests, celebrated the Easter World Liturgy in the cathedral "St. Dimitar Solunsky "in Vidin.

Chinese Puppet Theater in Vidin
The Chinese corporation from Henan province presented the first puppet tale from the Far East in Vidin, announced the Press Center of the Municipality. The guest is invited by the State Puppet Theater in town and personally by its director Pavlina Trifonova.
In front of many children and guests, the actors showed an attractive and emotionally spectacular show that included excerpts from six popular children's tales.
Mayor of Vidin Ognyan Tzenkov congratulated the guests from China, not hiding his joy from the giggle of the Chinese acting troupe. He thanked the director of the Vidin Puppet Theater and noted that one of Vidin's schools had been studying Chinese for a third year now.
The Chinese Puppet Theater was founded in 1958. Its repertoire is extremely varied and the performances are mainly intended for children's audience. Many of the productions have won local, national and international awards. The puppet theater develops active activity by exporting various show programs, both in the country and worldwide.

Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels.
Vidin Metropolitan Daniil and priests held a solemn liturgy in the cathedral "St. Dimitar" in Vidin.
In many Catholic and Episcopal denominations, worship services on Palm Sunday include a procession of the faithful carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. The difficulty of procuring palms in unfavorable climates led to their substitution with branches of native trees, including box, olive, willow, and yew. The Sunday was often named after these substitute trees, as in Yew Sunday, or by the general term Branch Sunday.
Palm Sunday, or the "Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem," as it is often called in some Orthodox Churches, is one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the liturgical year. The day before Palm Sunday, Lazarus Saturday, believers often prepare palm fronds by knotting them into crosses in preparation for the procession on Sunday. The hangings and vestments in the church are changed to a festive color – most commonly green.
