With today’s signing of Act 15, the company Contractor of Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat, FCC Construccion, handed over the bridge to the Engineer (the Construction Supervision) of the Project.
The taken over parts are: the supporting elements of the bridge (the 12 piers); the three abutments; the railway approach to the bridge; the road and railway approach roads with all the superstructure – the railway track and the catenary, the road paving, the drainage systems, the traffic signs, the crash barriers, guardrails, the railway barrier and etc.
Before the signing of Act 16 the bottom protective rings/diaphragms/ of the vessel impact protections at piers РВ11 and РВ12 shall be constructed, as their construction at the moment is impeded by the high waters of the Danube River. The rockfilling around the eight piers of the bridge in the non-navigable channel of the river shall be completed, and the river bed around the cast in-situ piles of piers РВ9, РВ10, РВ11 and РВ12 in the navigable channel of the Danube shall be fortified. The fortification shall be done at an area of 52 to 36 m around each of the four piers against erosion processes that occur due to the double increased speed of the water flow around the piles. Filtering elements, small and large stones will be placed in series at a layer of 1, 6m. Likewise was strengthened the bank at Abutment A3, where the bridge lies on the Romanian bank.
After the signing of Act 16, Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat will be handed over to the State.
