Post-graduates from Istvan Szechenyi University, the town of Gyor, Hungary, visited the construction site of Danube bridge Vidin-Calafat, led by Ph. D. Tamas Hardi from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. They got acquainted with the progress of the construction of the combined railway-highway bridge at Vidin, as well as with the unique technology of its construction. The future experts in regional development were impressed by the immense scale of this road construction, as well as by the continuation of the construction process even at the present high water level of the Danube River.
The purpose of their visit is to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the regional development in the different settlements along the Danube. Besides Vidin, the guests had visited towns in Serbia and Romania.The academic group was met by Julio Cabrero, Deputy Project Manager of Danube bridge Vidin-Calafat, who showed them the construction site where the segments of the bridge are being assembled at pier PB2 with the help of a launching girder.
