High voltage of 25 000 V was launched today on the 9750 m of railway track from freight Station Vidin in the direction to Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat. This is the second section of the new railway track which is built within the project.
The first electrified section of 4257 m from the inter-station distance Vidbol-Vidin to Passengers’ Station Vidin was put into operation in November 2010.
For the installation of the rails in this section are used aluminum–thermic welding that allows the traffic of high-speed trains. The catenary system is also conformed to these requirements for speed of 160km/h.
Within the frames of the Project; Construction of the Infrastructure to the Bridge, three more sections of the railway track are being executed, two of which are not electrified but will use diesel traction. These are the sections from switch point – Kapitanovtsi to Koshava mine (950 m) and from switch point – Kapitanovtsi to the ferryboat (600 m). Along these tracks at present is being carried out the so-called “lower” and “upper” construction – of culverts, ditches and railroad. The electrified section of 767 m between the Passengers’ and Freight Station – Vidin is to be constructed.
87% of the construction works of the Infrastructure to Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat, under the contract, have already been executed. The bridge is executed at 71%.
