An unusual Christmas tree of concrete cubes was made by the employees of the Laboratory at Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat construction site.
For a third consecutive year the already used test samples are converted into a great Christmas tree which can be seen from afar.
The test samples – cubes - are made of the concrete before pouring it at the respective construction site or an element for it at the production plant of FCC, the bridge or the adjoining infrastructure. A series of five test samples-cubes of the concrete from the concrete mixers is made for this purpose. Two of the concrete cubes are tested to compressive strength on the seventh day, and the other three – on the 28th day when the concrete reaches its final, maximum strength.
This year’s Christmas tree is made of 844 concrete cubes and is decorated with 38 m illuminating garlands and ribbons.
