This is the opinion of the Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary in Bulgaria, Hon. Andras Klein, after today’s visit to the bridge at Vidin – Calafat and after the conversation with the Manager of the Project Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat – eng. Alberto Vergara.
Accompanied by Dr. Miklos Pek, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of the Mission, by Tibor Nemeth , a sales representative, by Zoltan Vad, second secretary and by Vidin Mayor Gergo Gergov, the Hungarian Ambassador was able to see some of the finishing operations in the construction of the bridge – the laying of the bitumen layer on the railway track of the bridge, the preparation of the concrete base for the application of waterproofing, the fortification of the Romanian bank with rubble and etc.
The Hungarian diplomats were impressed by the width of the Danube at Vidin, which in the Hungarian section is almost twice as narrow, and by the impressive length of the bridge.
Hon. Ambassador Klein believes that the bridge between Vidin and Calafat will be a preferred route for all vehicles.
