The cyclists, participants in the third stage of the European cycling tour along the Danube, 2012 closely acquainted with the progress of construction of Danube Bridge between Vidin-Calafat. Led by Michael Theurer, member of the European Parliament and Vice-Chairman of the Danube Forum of the European Parliament, the representatives from Germany, Belgium, Holland and Italy spoke with Mr. Julio Ruiz, Deputy Manager of the Project “Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat” from the Spanish company - Contractor FCC Construccion. After the conversation Mr. Michael Theurer shared his opinion that Danube Bridge is quite impressive and that it is pride for the Danube Strategy.
Vidin is the first town of the Bulgarian river valley along the Danube, connected with the Danube Strategy, from where the third stage of the cycling tour starts. The Project “Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat” is included in the Danube Strategy, so important for Bulgaria. The purpose of the tour is to develop close economic, social and cultural co-operation among the 14 countries within the Danube region. After Vidin, the cyclists will visit all Bulgarian cities of the Bulgarian section of the Danube.
