Minister Moskovski and Minister Donchev walked along 744 m of the Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat, 26.03.2012

   Another consecutive visit was made by the Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications, Ivailo Moskovski and Tomislav Donchev, Minister of EU Funds Management, to monitor the process of construction of the only of its kind in Bulgaria combined road and railway bridge at Vidin-Calafat.

   The guests were acquainted with the process of construction of the trans-border road construction by eng. Julio Ruiz, Deputy Manager of the Project “Danube Bridge Danube Calafat”. The process of preparation of the stay cables for installation at PB 10 was closely monitored, as well as different construction activities at the superstructure of the bridge in the navigable channel of the river.  The length of the joint superstructure of the bridge from the protective dyke to the end at PB9 is 744 meters. The execution of the construction works at the bridge is over 72%. The people employed in the construction of the bridge and the adjoining infrastructure, including the subcontractors are 984, as 81,4 % of them are Bulgarians, and 18,6% - foreigners. .

   Minister Moskovski confirmed the deadline for the completion of the construction - the end of November this year, stating that “only adverse weather conditions could delay the last finishing operation – asphalting and insulations, for the execution of which a temperature of 10o is required”.

   Minister Donchev added that all the necessary conditions for the execution of the Project have been created. The last technical problem – the obtaining of a third concession for extraction of construction materials for the embankment will be solved by the Council of Ministers within a 10-day period.
