THE LAST PILE CAP, 01.11.2010

The concreting of the last pile cap (at pier РВ12) in the navigable channel of the Danube was observed by students – post graduates, from the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy - Sofia, subject “Bridge Construction”, during their visit  at the construction site of Danube Bridge  Vidin-Calafat . The concreting is executed with concrete trucks and concrete pumps, loaded on board of  barges, and with concrete, produced in the Concrete Plant  of FCC Construccion, according to the European Standards, with class of strength  60МРа.

The future engineers showed professional curiosity to the cable-stayed bridge construction of the bridge and the assembly of the preparatory pre-cast parts for the cable stayed bridge construction in the pylons at pier PB9.

An exceptional interest was shown to the superstructure of the bridge/deck/, which is being built entirely of prestressed reinforced concrete.  The segments for this construction, the protective elements for the piers and all the other elements for the construction of the bridge and the adjoining infrastructure are produced at the site of FCC Construccion, situated nearby.

The future construction engineers supervised the construction of the overpasses of the Adjoining Infrastructure, the new Freight and Passengers Stations, the new tracks and the 14-kilometer new catenary.
