Fourth year students from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy – Sofia, held an educational practice in the subject “Construction of transportation facilities” at the construction site of Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat.
The students, led by professor Encho Dulevski, the chief assistant professor Lazar Georgiev and assistant professor Perter Nikolov, went along the constructed, nearly one kilometer, superstructure of the bridge to see the basic elements of the trans-border road and railway bridge construction. With professional interest were scrutinized the stay-cable bridge and the tensioning of the deck as well as the crane installations for the assembly of segments in the navigable channel of the river, the installations for the constructing of the flanges in the non-navigable channel, which are use by the company- constructor of the Project – FCC Construccion and the railway approach road to the bridge.
This is the third consecutive visit of students from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. The construction of the bridge between Vidin-Calafat is visited by students of engineering, both from Bulgaria and other countries.
At present under the project “Danube bridge Vidin-Calafat” work 1006 persons (including the companies subcontractors), and 84,5% of them are Bulgarians and 15,5% - foreigners. .
90% of the Adjoining Infrastructure and 80% of the bridge have already been completed.
