Dunav Ultra - the longest cycling route in Bulgaria
This is the longest tourist biking route in Bulgaria - 730 km along the Danube River to the Black Sea.
"The whole Danube River on the territory of Bulgaria is part of the history of Ancient Mizia - a real treasure in the direct and transitory sense," says Boris Begumov, a 48-year-old marketing entrepreneur, the creator of the Danube Ultra.
In 2017, the event offers the distance traversing the two-stage distance along the 550-km "Danube River" stretch of the Danube Ultra which after Silistra continues to Dobrich and ends on the Black Sea in the area of the village of Durankulak, said Iglika Ivanova, editor of the web site of the same name. The event aims to promote these places as attractive tourist destinations not only nationally but also of global importance. " For the first year within the cycling route is held "Gladiators on wheels".
By popularizing the opportunities for cycling, the participants in the race are traveling along the Danube Ultra route from the village of Kudelin, Vidin, to the town of Silistra. Their goal is to overcome the distance of 550 km in less than 40 hours, broadcasting the winners in stages and in their entirety. For the little Finals, on the 8th of July in Svishtov are expected to arrive about 41 cyclists.
At this year's event, the athletes will pass through all the Bulgarian Danube cities, finishing literally meters from the remains of the Basilica of Damian - the place where the present city of Silistra was founded under the name of Durostorum some 2000 years ago.
The history of the ancient castles and villages - Bononia, Ratiaria, Augusta, Ulpia Eskus, Dimum, Nove, Sexaginta Prista, Transmariska and Durostorum is a story of some of today's largest cities along the Danube River in Bulgaria from Vidin to Silistra.
The start of "Gladiators on Wheels" - Stage 2 in the town of Svishtov will be from the Nove Camp, on July 9th. For the attractive dispatch of cyclists, renaissons will be catered for as Legionnaires from I Italian Legion - one of the three elite legions of Emperor Vespasian, who resided in Nove from the end of the 1st century, the press service of the Municipality of Svishtov announced.
The Danube Ultra route was created in 2014 by 45-year-old entrepreneur Boris Begumov. In 2010, he is in an advanced stage of obesity, an active smoker and an alcohol-dependent businessman. The love of cycling, sports and a healthy lifestyle change it. It creates the bike route, which then overcomes twice in less than 48 hours.
