New Bulgarian ski area near Serbia
The Supreme Administrative Court of the Republic of Bulgaria finally rejected “The Greens” appeal against the ecological assessment of the General Spatial Plan of the future Midzhur ski area over the village of Chuprene, Vidin.
The project envisages the construction of a recreation area, hiking, ski slopes and facilities on an area of 710 decares. Most of it falls in the Alpine part of the Western Balkan Mountains. There are no forests, but there are natural runs. There are 4 school boards, playgrounds, snowparks, small ski-lifts. This means that the area will be specialized for beginners skiers and children. There will also be a lift that will take you from the village to the area. It will be used by tourists in both winter and summer.
The author of the project of Midzhur Ski Area is the architect Emil Lekov, author of the ski zone in Bansko. According to him, Chuprene has no worse features than Bansko.
Beyond this part of the mountain, in Serbia, there is a similar winter center - "Babin Zub", also widely visited by Bulgarians.
The Midzhur Ski Area will be built around 2020.
The village of Chuprene is located 20 km from Belogradchik, 70 km from Vidin, 60 km from Montana and 13 km from the border with the Republic of Serbia. Mayor Vanyo Kostin has already run a third term of office in the most active municipal administration in Vidin district. Seventeen have won the European projects of the Municipality of Chuprene worth nearly 21 million leva.
