Izbichen – a rich Danube village

A twelve to thirteen thousand Romanian village near the Danube, 170 km from Vidin, in the direction of Beckett. Gasified and tidy. A complete contrast to the villages of the Northwest and the rest of Bulgaria!
People from this village do not emigrate. They mainly deal with vegetable production and animal husbandry. And they win. They work hard and their houses are getting nice. In each yard – greenhouses. And in late November, when I visited him, thanks to the Romanian Cultural Center in Vidin, chaired by Ivan Juvetov, several types of peppers, cauliflower and cabbage were still growing.
A village without drinking water, but with pumps in every yard and wells on the streets. Shingles and buckets – for public use, do not steal, do not lock, no guards or security cameras around …
In the center of the village of Izbichen – three banks, a cultural home, a library, a school full of children (uniforms!), a kindergarten, grocery stores, fertilizers, seeds, plant protection products and peat, restaurants. And the people who work, who profit from it, and who are certainly not ashamed to call themselves “villagers.” On the contrary! A village where I did not see any ruined, abandoned or vandalized house! Neither one!
А, иначе, на много от нас много ни се иска да сме в Шенген… Ама много!
