Serbia has started screening the population for coronavirus immunity

A study aimed at identifying coronavirus immunity among Serbian citizens has been launched by the country’s Ministry of Health, Srbijadanas reports.

One of the objectives of the study was to detect asymptomatic cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In the first testing phase, 17,000 randomly selected citizens are scheduled to be screened. During the study, people will be asked to complete a short questionnaire, after which they will be sent to a medical testing center.

Professor Tatiana Pekmezovic, head of the epidemiological study, said the data collected will help to assess the duration of coronavirus immunity, the dynamics of antibodies at the population level and asymptomatic infections.

The purpose of the study is to determine which population groups are most susceptible to the virus and the risk factors that contribute to the negative development of sick people.
