Cross-border training and debate on “Regional Development and Cohesion Politics before and after 2020” was held today in Vidin with representatives of Bulgaria and Romania. The forum is organized by the Europe Direct-Vidin Information Center and the Europe Direct-Southern Oltenia Center, Romania.

Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov, Mayor of Vidin Municipality, and Lachezar Popivanov, Deputy Governor of Vidin, welcomed the participants to the Forum.

The Europe Direct-Vidin Information Center is part of the European Direct Europe information network, said Andrian Alexandrov, Head of the Center. Its main objective is to connect citizens of the area with the EU. The Center provides information and advice on EU Politics and promotes regional EU debate through the organization of events and information campaigns. Another major task of the center is to disseminate information in the town of Vidin and the area related to the Union’s activities and to give the local community the opportunity to give feedback to the European institutions.

The activity of the center in South Oltenia, presented by its chairman Daniel Neagoe-Bakanu, is similar.

Good practices for promoting regional cohesion policy were presented by Desislava Todorova, Deputy Mayor of Vidin Municipality for European Politics and Investments.
